Dr. B. was asked to volunteer her expertise in service to WCASA-The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the State of Wisconsin Agency on Sexual Assault, and was later re-elected to its Board by its Membership, and has served as Vice-President elected by the Board of Directors.
Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Dr. B. served voluntarily and faithfully for several years, the City of Milwauke and its Public Safety Committee through her appointment as Commissioner to the then, "Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault." She was initially asked and appointed to serve and represent, City of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. Later, representing Presidents Willie Hines and Michael Murphy; and briefly served President Ashanti Hamilton.
Dr. B. is a Survivor of family violence and systemic revictimization, first and secondary. She understands the sometimes, disabling impact such trauma can have on ones life.
But, instead of becoming "bitter," she took what she knew, and with her PhD level training in Urban Education Curriculum & Instruction, she researched more, and then gave it freely to her community and to allies to try and make it "better" for other women, and for their children, and for their families.
